Huomuliang wind farm is located in huomuliang Tang area, Ninglang Yi Autonomous County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, with a total installed capacity of 49.5mw. The local terrain of the mountainous area fluctuates greatly, the mountainous area alternates with gullies, the terrain is complex and irregular, the altitude is between 3300-3600m, the air density is between 0.81-0.85kg/m3, which is a typical high-altitude wind farm.

Previously, this type of wind turbine has been in trouble free operation at an altitude of 3000 meters in the Northwest for 18 months, the reliability of the unit has been inspected, the power characteristics have passed the inspection of the international authoritative certification agency, and the market order with a total capacity of more than 1 GW has been obtained continuously.
In the early stage of wind power development in China, Northeast China, North China and Northwest China are the focus of development. However, due to the complex terrain, high altitude, thunderstorm and humidity in summer, and the frequent occurrence of ice and snow on roads in winter, the development cost is very high, which is almost regarded as the "development forbidden area". Thanks to the rapid progress of domestic high-altitude wind power technology, Yunnan has become a large province of wind power with a large number of fans.
CRRC Zhuzhou Institute is one of the first complete machine manufacturers to explore high altitude wind power in China. In 2009, it completed the development of high altitude series wind power units.
